The pale-girl rule of thumb seems to be eschew whites and nudes at all costs to pull off the white-legs look. Yet, Haley Strode couldn't look better and certainly doesn't look washed out to me. Perhaps it's the red hair and red lips? 

Lounging in vivid, flame-red silk, Anna Kendrick epitomizes all that "alabaster" was ever meant to mean in gothic romance novels since time immemorial.

As a pale girl, I'm very comfortable in pinks and reds, but wary of being "too pale" in cold hues like blue. Yet, Kendrick (like Anne Hathaway) looks effortlessly luminous and stunning in the shade. The secret seems to be the mix of light shades with  the dark that tie fair skin into the ensemble. Eschew solids, choose prints with light-toned highlights.

I love that delicate shade of blue. It highlights the luminosity of light skin. As always a light but fun print proves key to keep the colors from washing out.
